We accomplish this by practicing the highest standards in three different areas: experience, education and communication.
EXPERIENCE
We hire only sitters who have also loved and cared for their own animals for many years as well as those who have verified experience in other areas of animal care such as veterinarians, day care centers, groomers, trainers and pet sitting businesses. During our rigorous hiring process our applicants complete a questionnaire that requires them to detail the types and levels of care that they have had experience providing, including species-, breed-, age- and illness-specific care. Our applicants must pass a background check and all staff must pass additional background checks each year.
EDUCATION
Each new employee must complete 25 hours of online training, with a minimum of three additional hours each month thereafter, that covers topics such as canine socialization and feline communication, and must also complete a minimum of 10 supervised visits with an experienced staff member. In addition, each new staff member must pass a 4-hour, in-person pet CPR and first aid certification class within his or her first ninety days. These requirements ensure that each staff member doesn’t just “love animals” but also is trained to properly care for your beloved pets and can respond as necessary in an emergency situation.
COMMUNICATIONS
We do not want our sitters just to be educated about animals, we also want them to be educated about YOUR animals. We do this by asking you a lot of questions and getting as much information as possible during your initial Meet and Greet, and then by updating that information as needed before, during and after each sitting assignment.
All of this information is accessible to you and to your sitter(s) through the use of our specialized software. Through your browser or our smartphone app you can make updates to your contact information and feeding instructions and also communicate with your sitter and company management. You can also see account and visit updates as well as request services, see your invoices and make payments.
